This is a lesson in impermanence for me.
Yesterday, I finished polishing my Buddha Bear pendant. I was planning on setting the tiny diamond on his mala next week. Took this quick pic of him last night before I went to sleep. I wore him today in the house while I edited. Ran out once to get Zoe from the groomer as the snow started to fall. The roads were bad coming home. I realized my bear was missing a few minutes after I sat back down at the computer. So, I started shoveling the driveway to find him ... the snow continues to come down...I am hoping he will appear on the ground in the spring... I’ve looked all over the house, the car, shoveled the driveway 3 times, texted with the groomer. Fortunately, I have a mold and have had plans to have more made. But, he was my first. If he is meant to come back he will. Maybe I am meant to make 100 more to perfect the art of metalwork. Buddha Bear symbolizes the connection between the heart and the brain for me. Drawing him, painting him, carving him calms my brain. Breathing and visualizing him centers me. An artist knows to follow her heart and follow her bliss. It is all in the process. I suppose I wasn’t meant to keep this first bear. The universe is telling me to keep working. There is no medium that will hold me. Not photography, not painting, not jewelry, not encaustic, not printmaking ... nothing. The maker makes. Shut up and don’t question. I am now telling myself to sit back down at the computer and finish my editing. Photography works for you. Next week I’ll make 100 bears from the mold and learn so much more. That’s why I’m here. To learn. .
