We met with wrestler Tejvir Boal from @goteamontario – who most recently won gold at the 2017 Juvenile Canadian Championships in April – and asked about his pathway from playground to podium.
🎙When did you start wrestling and when did you know you wanted to go to the next level?
🤼♂️"I started wrestling when I was 8 years old but took it more seriously when I was 14. That’s when my coaches really pushed me and I started getting noticed. Once that happened, everyone kept encouraging and helping me to get to where I am today."
🎙How did you prepare yourself to compete at the 2017 Canada Summer Games? What was your training like?
🤼♂️"We were training every day. If we’re not wrestling, we go to the gym or just train outside. Everything is already planned out but even on off-days we just do our own exercises."
🎙Now you’re here, at the 2017 Canada Summer Games, what do you want to take away from this experience?
🤼♂️"I just want to experience it all. It’s new because I’ve never had this for wrestling since I’m always at single sport events. But here you can watch all kinds of sports and meet other people from different sports and learn about their experiences too."
