A message from our Lead Pastor, Rev. Kent H. Little:
"On this day of another violent act in our state, prayers are connecting many of us. Hearts are heavy with grief for victims of violence, whether perpetrated by individuals or the state. Taking a life for a life brings neither closure nor justice, such acts only deepen our addiction to violence and stands in stark contrast to the message of life in the gospel of grace and love. For me, as I remember, it draws us back to the prophetic words of Dr. King,
'The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy.
Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it.
In fact, violence merely increases hate.
Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that. ' ~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
May we continue to work toward that day when compassion and grace are the rule and love is the Way."
