What is single cask whisky? This is perhaps the most frequently asked question among enthusiasts who are new to our Society. Single cask whisky is simply whisky that was bottled directly from a single cask. This can be compared to “single malt” whisky, which is a blend of multiple casks from the same distillery. .
When distilleries produce a single malt whisky, they generally do so with an objective of maintaining a consistent flavor profile from batch to batch. When it comes to single cask whisky, however, no two casks will every produce the exact same flavor profile. Nature certainly has a funny way of taking charge at times and this is perhaps why many enthusiasts view single cask whisky as the purest expression of the spirit itself. .
At The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, we bottle whisky straight from the cask. Every cask is naturally colored, nonchillfiltered and bottled at natural cask strength.
