Another pic of tiny creatures for you all. This critter has a special place in my heart. I was kind of a godfather to it. I discovered the cocoon? in a construction area, was curious what would eventually pop out, and brought the prize back with me to my place. This was maybe last October. It sat in an empty water bottle on my desk for months without any signs of life. I pondered what it might be, perhaps that it was something big like a butterfly or moth. I had kept and hatched? a little maggot I found in some leafy greens used for kimchi (갓) and he turned out to be a little bee-like feller.
Well, it just so turned out, much to my surprise, around May or so, I noticed some activity. There were tiny bugs in the bottle!
Not just one, but multiple little guys! I had seen the likes of them ages ago but it was a whole nother thing being the hatcher.
Praying manti apparently hatch and have sticky stuff stuck to their feet. I helped one of the little ones scrape it off. But who'da thunk they'd come out of a big cocoon.
Anywho, it was another chance to appreciate the complexities of life inherent in such small creations.
When I became worried about their health, I let the pious prayers go because they wouldn't eat the fruit flies I was diligently snatching out of the air for them.
Just recently I saw a big praying mantis out in nature and it made me pause and think...
Is that my baby running around wild?
Anyhow, let's take a closer look at our lives and appreciate what we have. Life is stronger than we might think, but more vulnerable than you'd think.
P.S. And yes, that is a toilet in the upper right-hand corner... #Jeju #photographer #praying #mantis #nature #summer #selfdevelopment #traveler
