Today my workout is slightly unusual as it’s aimed at attention and concentration improvement through exercise techniques. Would you like to join? Then find a quiet space and try these exercises:
Exercise N1 – 3 x 20 sec planks with full concentration on engagement of every muscle to create exerting tension from your heals to the crown of your head (you might burst in sweat as you do that).
Exercise N2 – concentration meditation – pick a dot/spot on a wall and look at it for 5 min straight. You may blink but try not to look anywhere else. Think only about that spot.
Exercise N3 – visualisation and memory training – pick a small space in the room, look at it, close your eyes and visualise what you’ve just seen.
Exercise N4 – attention and reaction time – use a beep test app, set your intervals and do a burpee on every beep you hear as fast as possible. You can set your beeps at steady or random intervals.
Exercise N5 – 10 min relaxation meditation – stay as still as possible for 10 min. You will have some thoughts coming in, but try not to engage with them. Let them pass by without having any influence on you.
Exercise N6 – direct experience - look around you and experience the space where you are without giving any names to the sensations or objects you see - as if you forgot all the words you ever knew.
Every single one of these exercises trains skills transferable into daily life. We are losing many of them day by day with the increase of technology, media and entertainment industry influences.
