Let’s get real for a moment...last night I had some gluten. 🤦‍♀️ I KNOW! I know! To be honest, it can be difficult at times to stay completely gluten free, especially when the place you go to doesn’t really have very many options - if any! I believe if you are staying good and consistent 90-95% of the time, one little mishap isn’t going to cause too much damage - unless you are severely allergic! So I say...do the best you can with what you have. .
Went to our favorite Hawaiian place in Newport Beach called Da Hawaiian Kitchen...and they have the best Ishiki sauce! Sooo good!

Got my workout in today...trying to get as much as possible in before my trip. It was all upper body with drop sets, so you’ll see me transition from 15s to 10s, or 10s to 8s. And trying to mix up GF/DF pancake batter after upper body is a CHALLENGE! Let me tell ya! 😆💪

A kettle bell upright row drop set using a long rope supersetting that with dumbbell lateral raises finished with partials. Leg day 👊🏻💥 Quad extension superset hamstring curls 5 sets 3 (warm ups) 2 working set........... hack squats (video) work up in weight 8 reps per set until failure don't sacrifice form for weight last set I done a drop set.......single leg hamstring curls 4 sets 12 12 8 8..........stiff leg deads (video) 4 sets 80kg dumbbells..... calves to finish. Note the vids every rep is slow controlled with a purpose don't just move the weight you won't see much progression in muscle growth going through the motions 😁😙 higher carbs today so me a happy boy 😊

KH Bankdrücken Drop-Set für muskuläre Erschöpfung, Laktatproduktion und Muskelschaden - alles um einen stärkeren Wachstumsreiz zu setzen. Im Video verwende ich 28er, 22er und 16er Kurzhanteln für 10,8 und 6 (ok; es wurden nur 5, im Video nicht mehr zu sehen) Wiederholungen. Anschließend gab es nach der Pause und de zweiten B-Übung noch eine Runde.

Heute hatte ich eine sehr gute Trainingseinheit mit meinem Kollegen Marcel Seidscheck als Team @urbanathletes_koeln, der auch der Kameramann war 👍🏼. Morgen kommt mein Trainingspartner @gordan_flash_ aus Stuttgart für ein Armageddon Training vorbei, auf dass ich mich ebenfalls schon sehr freue 💪🏼.

Admittedly I’ve fallen off the gym wagon. Last week I went once. I don’t know why. I feel GREAT after going, and I typically have all the motivation to go but something switched off last week. I over ate, and sulked about it. Welp, no more; here I am and my #midnightworkout abs, back and biceps. I’m going to start my 6 mile walks again with the addition of a 40# weighted vest to see if it’ll help me shed some of my mid section. Hell, that’s too nice. To shed my GUT. Sorry, guys. I won’t fall off again. 🤦‍♂️

📌The following workout routines don't include warm-up sets. Do as many warm-up reps as you need, but never take warm-ups to muscle failure. 📌Choose a weight that allows you to reach muscle failure by the target rep listed in the workout. 📌Keep your form tight, and never allow your lower back to round. 📌Goal: Overall Back Mass⠀
If you haven't been giving your back the same amount of gym time and effort as other muscle groups, odds are it's lagging miles behind them. To help it catch up, focus on building pure, raw mass.
📌Back-Building Pointers to help you :⠀

1)Use a thumb press grip, where you use an over hand grip with your 4 fingers around the bar and press your thumbs on the bar. This will lead into the next pointer.⠀

2)Use enough pressure on the bar to hold, but don't squeeze too hard on the bar or you will engage the forearms and biceps too much. The thumb press will help with this.⠀

3)Holding onto the bar or weight, drive you elbows as far back as possible trying to pinch your shoulder blades together.⠀

4)Feel your muscles contract and leave your ego at the door. Too many beginners use way to much weight and never feel the muscle working. ⠀

If we want to maximize muscle growth, we must intelligently incorporate both light and heavy weight training into our program. ⠀

Light Weight: 65-75% of your 1RM or a weight you can handle for 8-15 reps. ⠀

Heavy Weight: 80-90% of your 1RM or a weight you can handle for 3-6 reps. ⠀

It’s no secret that light weights (8-15 reps) are great for muscle growth as they are an efficient way to accumulate volume. But what about heavy weights? What place do they have in a program if the goal is strictly cosmetic? ⠀

1. Heavy weights produce greater strength gains. If we’re stronger in the 3-5 range then we’ll also become stronger in the 8-15 range, allowing us to overload the muscle in order to produce growth. ⠀
_ ⠀
2. Contrary to popular belief, heavy weights do produce a great deal of muscle growth on their own. You see, mechanical tension – a primary driver of hypertrophy – is produced when a muscle responds to being loaded and stretched. This stress is typically formed when lifting successively heavier loads for a sufficient amount of time. ⠀
_ ⠀
3. Let me clear something up for you: training heavy does not damage your joints. Working with a load you can’t handle and performing a lift with shitty form is what damages the joints. To the contrary, increasing your strength doesn’t just result in building more muscle, it also aids in toughening our connective tissue. ⠀

4. Heavy weight increases bone density. According to Troy Tuttle, MS, “One of the best ways to stop, prevent, and even reverse bone and muscle loss is to add strength training to your workouts.” Like connective tissue, bone strength responds to stress. When we introduce a new stimulus, the bones adapt and grow in order to handle the stress again in the future.⠀

DOUBLE your pulling volume with mechanical drop sets.

As I’ve said over and over, the surefire way to build muscle is to do more work/volume (weight, reps, sets) over time.

In a few of my latest posts, I’ve mentioned the importance of staggering the amount of volume that you do in the pulling vs. pushing plane of motion.
-
For health and aesthetics, this is important to counterbalance the non-exercise-related activity that we do that strengthens our pushing muscles.
-
Pulling exercises, like chin ups, rows, and pull downs, favor the muscles on your backside.
-
Performing twice as much volume in the pulling plane can seem intimidating, but mechanical drop sets can help.
-
They’re an effective method to do more work in less time.
-
Mechanical drop sets are a series of exercises performed with little rest in between.
-
You begin with the most difficult variation of a movement, then make minor adjustments to make the exercise easier, so that you can accumulate more reps with the same weight.

Here I manipulated the angle and grip of the lat pulldown to extend the set beyond the point of muscular fatigue that I would reach with one exercise.

When you literally have only ten minutes in the gym to fit a legs workout in, how do you make it count? I use a three station mechanical drop set/circuit of squats, dumbbell squats, then jump squats. Complete all three to failure with no break. Pause one minute then repeat. I call these gauntlets and they really work!
