In conjunction with the States of Incarceration exhibit, Mobilizing Resistance Against White Nationalism is a public forum that seeks to provide concrete intersectional strategies and tactics for resistance to the threat to rescind DACA, and the increasingly robust efforts by the Trump administration to detain, deport and ban a wide variety of immigrants. The forum will also explore the administration’s policies and enforcement priorities as a symptom of the increasingly visible and influential white nationalist movement in the United States.

We are proud to present the VII Tutor Program, a collaborative project organized by @viiphoto and Officine Fotografiche, to launch a study program focused on discovering new talents, stimulating visual languages that meet contemporary perspectives and transmitting the experiences and world views that have distinguished the two institutions in recent decades.
Starting in early 2018, the VIITutorProgram will be divided into five cycles throughout the next two years and will be taught by five VII Agency photographers.
Each cycle will take place @ Officine Fotografiche - Milano.

STATES OF INCARCERATION ARTIST TALK TOMORROW, 6-9PM! Panelist highlight: @edkashi
Kashi’s life-sized portraits feature former detainees who firmly stand their ground even while their physical settings seem to be receding from them, as though they are there and not there, at home and adrift, uncertain of their place in America.

These portraits are accompanied by recorded accounts from the detainees, who phone visitors back when texted via cellphone, located within the gallery and the concourse.

More inspiration for our current theme ‘WORLD TRAVELERS’, this time from past Life Framer judge Ed Kashi (@edkashi), who has spent his career documenting social injustice around the world.

His series ‘Agent Orange’ focuses on two families in the city of Da Nang, Vietnam, which is being used as a kind of laboratory to study the effects of Agent Orange. Through their testimonies and scenes of their daily lives, he uncovers the reality of living with the health impacts from “Operation Ranch Hand” where the US used defoliating chemicals such as Agent Orange as a weapon in the Vietnam War.

More than one hundred and fifty thousand Vietnamese are now living with symptoms ranging from diabetes and heart disease to offspring born with horrible deformities, learning disabilities, and physical and psychological problems. And despite an enormous amount of money diverted into support services, many children still receive little aid.

The images are intimate and heart-breaking – a devastating testament to the atrocities of chemical warfare.
