Squad and Transfer Analysis
@fcbarcelona have just completed the arrival of @arthurhmelo (and Clément Lenglet) and the departure of Paulinho. A Brazilian for a Brazilian, but with very different characteristics, to adapt the 2018-2019 squad to Ernesto Valverde's needs.
The first team is composed of 27 players today, which could reach 30 if the transfer plans of the technical staff are completed. But Valverde wants to work with a group of 20 to 22 players...
Once the technical secretariat was replaced, Éric Abidal and Pep Segura set the basic objectives on the summer market: the arrival of 4 players to relaunch a team that last season showed that it had few bench players.
Arthur Melo's and @clement_lenglet's recent signatures have started 'Operation Camp Nou', adding players to the squad.
Frenkie De Jong, Eden Hazard and Adrien Rabiot are three of the names that are preferentially marked by the Blaugrana managers to complete the new staff with two possible hires.
B players will be promoted
To these signatures must be added the players from Barça B who will be promoted to the first team. @carlesalenya and @oriolbusquetsmas will be part of the first team next season.
Returns of loans
Many players have returned from loan including Marlon, Munir, Douglas, Rafinha, and Samper. They started pre-season training with the rest of the team. The Club must therefore manage these returns, and thus see to re-loan them, sell them or add them to Valverde's plan.
Departures and future departures
As far as departures are concerned, only Paulinho has been made official, but the future of André Gomes, Aleix Vidal, Paco Alcácer and Yerry Mina remain to be defined. Not to be forgotten is the desire of Jasper Cillessen to leave the club, which may force them to look for a new goalkeeper.
