Cool Car for the Ice-Cool Boys from Miami Vice.
One of the 1980's classic shows 🙄
Ferrari Testarossa (1984-1991)
The Ferrari Testarossa (Type F110) came to the market in 1984 with seductive good looks thanks to it's then groundbreaking styling.
Everything had gotten a little dreary in the 70's compared to the rocking 1960's. The Testarossa styling was a backlash against the conservatism that blanketed Europe and Italy’s automotive manufacturers during the most of the 1970s.
Powered by a 4942cc 12-cylinder mid-engine, it made a useful 390hp and buckets of torque meant it could hit 0-60mph in 5.29 sec, 0-100mph in 11.3 sec. The Testarossa is surprisingly manageable and reasonably easy to drive compared to the Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer that came before it. Fantastic as a grand router, its an all-around delight to drive even around town where you can check out your reflection in the store windows as you cruise by fast or slow. The Testarossa premiered at the 1984 Paris Auto Show and it featured a much wider track at the rear than the front for stability and handling. And the straked air intakes fed radiators efficiently located at the sides rather than in the front as on the Ferrari 512 BBi. It was roomier, more refined, and comfortable too. It retained the flat-12 engine and added four-valve heads and other mechanical changes to get it to 390hp.
Coupled with its sexy looks and it's exposure in the iconic TV series Miami Vice helped the Testarossa become Ferrari’s most-popular 12-cylinder model ever. 🙄
