It is okay if you didn't know this but it is totally unreasonable if you read this post and then decide to keep buying inferior leather products. Mathematically, research has shown that you not only spend more in the long run, you also waste precious time
Now, this is a repost of a post we did sometime last year but there has been an urgent need to enlighten new people because apparently a lot of people still cant tell why some brands sell acclaimed leather footwear for as low as 1000 naira so they perceive others as being pricey .
These are two different types of materials( to help differentiate, we made holes in one and the other is smooth). They look exactly alike, even feel almost the same but one is leather while the other is not( those who know, know). The one that isn't leather is another type of material that is very useful in footwear making process as well but i would not mention the name or go deeply into pointing out how you can tell which is which because this is what some people use in making their sandals and i am not out to bring anyone down. .
While they look exactly alike, the leather lasts longer, feels nice on the skin, very breathable, comfortable and quite expensive while the other one is so much cheaper, and in the long run it starts to peel ( remember that your leather bag that is peeling on the rack?). So, unless you are very familiar with real leather you would pay for leather and get something that only looks like leather and you would never know. I made these mistakes a lot before i could tell the difference perfectly.
So before you go ahead and say "i am going to buy from this vendor, after all his own is leather too and much cheaper" be very sure, be very very sure you are getting a leather sandal if that is what you want.
Real leather is never cheap.
Now who can spot which of the materials is real leather? a gift awaits
