Bryant D. Giles (@bryantdgiles) is without a doubt one of my favourite modern artists. His deeply conceptual, abstract and expressive work reminds me of Basquiat's own legendary genius. Of course Bryant isn't nearly on his level yet but he is so artfully and vividly portray the soul, the mind and the human condition. His artwork so passionately portrays the internal struggles and conflict we all face while being creative with the approach. I love art like this. It truly encapsulates what art means for me, personal, imaginative, layered and meaningful expression. Bryant is able to pour so much into every piece, I admire it a lot. This also reminds me of one of my favourite artists Björk, who's also dropping tonight, specifically her 1996 magnum opus Homogenic. Björk is an artist unafraid of being her true self and one who takes her own uniqueness and applies it innovatively. Homogenic is a very cold and melancholy album, experimental and complex in every aspect. She perfectly personifies what it means to be an experimental artist in this new era of music. People like Bryant, Björk and Basquiat, interestingly all B's, are why I adore avant-garde art.
