My "In My Garden" quilt being layered and pinned in the garden last week. I stood the frame up against the house, so that I could reach the area in the middle. I started work at about 6.30 am, so that I could get finished before the heat of the day. This is one of my favourite quilts ever, and was designed by Anni Downs, fromAustralia. Hand pieced, and appliquéd. This was a very slow quilt, even by my standards. I made it once using Bondaweb, and machine blanket stitch. I hated it, as the method didn't favour the tiny pieces. I started all over again, making the entire quilt by hand. This time I loved it, thank goodness. I think it was this quilt, along with Supergoof's blog, that gave me the conviction that I could make quilts by hand. I think, altogether, I have spent about three years to get to this stage. Was it worth it? Absolutely! What have I learned from this quilt project? You can do it. Just keep stitching, one piece at a time.
