All right... so, I very recently found out that this fragrance is very likely the most valuable/sought-after in my collection. This one is not a new one for me; in fact, I bought it back around 2003 when I first started collecting fragrances. Yves Saint Laurent's M7 was as revolutionary as it was controversial; due to the unusual notes (according to Basenotes.net, agarwood is present in the heart notes as well as mandrake root at the base), some people thought that it partially smelled like good old-fashioned B.O. Also, the ad campaign (which, luckily, I missed) apparently featured some nasty-looking naked dude.
Like most of my purchases at the time, M7 was a blind buy. I had read up on it, and I had seen many favorable reviews. So, I ordered a bottle and gave it a shot. I loved it. It was brash and unorthodox; the fragrance practically smacked people in the face with a blast of STRONG, fruity wood. It was an attention-getter and a compliment-earner. There was nothing like it at the time, and I have smelled nothing like it since.
However... what I didn't realize until recently was that the original version of M7 that I purchsed back in the day had gotten discontinued. Luckily, I still have most of the 3.4-oz bottle tucked away from light and heat most of the time, so the juice is still really potent... and WOW, it still packs a punch. I'm so glad to have gotten this one when I did!
