What the diagram shows here is what may happen in your cells whenever you are dieting in a caloric deficit and it goes through the process of releasing the fat.

What most do not know is that the cells can refill with water once you lose the stored fat in the cells. This may give you an illusion that you are not making progress and all that dieting and time in the gym is a loss.
