Wow! We were out walking some slickrock and came upon a football field size patch of the iron oxide patinated I nodules locals call moqui marbles this line of baseball sized beauties led right to the center of the gridiron of spheres.

Feeling filled to the brim with love and gratitude for the #eastforestretreat2018 😌🍂❤️ Hiking in #GrandStaircaseNationalMonument through fall aspen, to arches and remote pools, to pictographs and petroglyphs; deep conversations with beautiful souls; yoga to live @eastforest and ceremony concerts; a private listening party + DJ Chakra Khan dance party; stargazing, saunas, and the most incredible food from the @sweetwaterkitchen...this was a well rounded, and much needed reboot for my soul. Thank you to everyone who made this experience the magic is was: the guests (my new friends!), the hiking guides, the kitchen and @bouldermountainguestranch staff, Ron + Brandy, @iamrachelwhite and @eastforest 🙏✨🍄💞 We are all *more* together.

I’ve been spending a lot of time INSIDE....slot canyons. The frequency of my visits is absurd, as the crooked lines they weave blur. Wandering narrow passageways where tight quarters constrict and squeeze, sandstone bumps and grinds against my skin. The dark tunnels shut out light and let it back in, as I lose myself inside this amazing earth. Yes, even going beneath the surface I am grateful for the impossibility of experiencing more than a tiny fraction of this place in this life—a mere blink of geological time. How can we decide what to do with land that we are only beginning to know? #savegrandstaircaseescalante #geographyofhope #playingslots

Had an opportunity to visit #grandstaircasenationalmonument before trump admin removed parts of it from protected land. The road to various parts of this monument are not paved and trails are not well marked . But doesn’t that make it more adventurous? #wildernessculture #whereisgohil #awesomeearth #aroundtheworldpix #beautifuldestinations #wanderout #wonderful_places #theglobewanderer #places_wow #awesome_globepix #earthfocus #ourplanetdaily #bestvacations #earthpix #fantastic_earth #tourtheplanet #discoverglobe #utahisrad #nationalmonument #balancedrocks #balancedandbeautiful

I love these reminders from something so significant, of how insignificant you and your worldly problems can be... Check out the Andromeda Galaxy to the top left of the Toadstool Hoodoo ✨ 💫

So I just learned that Grosvenor Arch was named after Gilbert Hovey Grosvenor, father of photojournalism, and the first full-time editor of the National Geographic. He is also credited with having built the magazine into the iconic publication that it is today. Pretty cool stuff! #grosvenorarch #gilberthoveygrosvenor #foodforthought #exploreutah #grandstaircase #grandstaircasenationalmonument #savegrandstaircase #fuckzinke

Spent most of my week indoors and too preoccupied with my first love of family to celebrate my second love of nature- especially when celebration being called for policy change.
So here on National Public Lands Day and shortly after the 22 year anniversary of the creation of Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument is some love for this magical place I fell in love with 17 years ago #nationalpubliclandsday #publiclandsday #savegrandstaircase #gsenm #grandstaircaseescalante #grandstaircasenationalmonument #monumentsforall @blmnational @monumentsforusa

Photo by @cookjenshel | Twenty two years ago, on September 18th President Clinton designated the Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument in Utah, to protect for generations to come – the irreplaceable antiquities that exist within its over 1.7 million acres. It was a dream assignment for us, and our first for National Geographic, to photograph that spectacular landscape containing 250 million years of geologic history. It would take a lifetime to see the vast number of rock art panels and historic dwellings found within the monument’s borders, so we were fortunate to have the help of archeologists and geologists to lead us to many of the more important sites. Much of this landscape has still not been fully surveyed, and with current proposals to shrink the monument, it’s heartbreaking that we may lose an unknown rich history before it’s been fully revealed.
