More on the #Hamiltonmen - Have you ever seen a more joyful black man? It was a pleasure to sit, talk, photograph, and laugh with Sharrod. As he shared his story, I had to stop myself from saying, "me too!" every other sentence because of our similar backgrounds. Similar, but different - Sharrod is uniquely himself, caught up in a whirlwind of passion, a love for life and desire to grow. Here's some of what he shared.
1/4 Sharrod - "I grew up singing in New Jersey. We [my family] were all creatively inclined. Mostly singing. My dad was really good about pushing us into any opportunities there were - my brothers and I all ended up attending the Newark Boys Chorus School, which was very prestigious and gave us all sorts of unique experiences, that I really didnt know were unique until I got older. We were taught music theory, received classical music training, we got to travel all over Europe. Yeah, it was pretty cool. Then later, I went to a performing Arts High school and my junior year they did a musical, which I auditioned for and got, but I didnt get bit by the musical bug yet." #thingsblackbodiesdo #hamiltonmen #hamiltonchicago #achorusline #broadway #broadwayinchicago #cibc #blackmen #blackboyjoy #blackamerica #blackmencandance #chicago #winter #nighttime #nightlights #citylights
