The days have grown long and tiring in my quest to prove the existence of the Cat-Bandit to the humans. My pride, I have succeeded in convincing the human intern into letting me go the Upstairs and find proof. Though it is clear she still doesn’t believe in my cause, her doubt is not enough for her to refuse to help me nor is it enough for me to stop my search. As soon as she opened the door, I bolted up the stairs. I searched the back rooms. My eyes strained to find any hint, any clue of where the Cat-Bandit has been. I know he’s been here. The other times I’ve been in Book Suey, even the times when I snuck out of the house and back to the store, I could hear paws strutting around the Upstairs. Always one door between me and getting my proof. I would yak my hair I was so mad. This time there’s no door between us. After searching the back room, I met the intern in one of the first rooms. That’s when I saw it. Small bit of red on the floor. I crept closer and it became clearer. I sniffed and scratched at it, made the red thing move. The harsh scent struck my nose though the smell of it was faded. Old. From several hours ago. Then I saw more of the small red thing. The intern said, “paper”, after she picked one up. It took me a moment to recognize what it was supposed to be. Small cut out paw prints, colored red, laid out on the carpet. The intern took some photos so I included them in the post. We searched for several more minutes then wandered back to my domain. I sat around thinking over what I saw and what it might mean. While it showed someone was up their recently, it was clear they were mocking me. There was only one cat in my mind who would do that: the Cat-Bandit. I must be close to disclosing his existence and possibly his identity. All I need is more time, more recourses, then I’m sure I’ll catching him. I couldn’t help hut wonder, were these flowers the next thing to be knocked over by the Cat-Bandit? Do any of the human’s things stand a chance?
As always keep you paws steady and quick, your eyes narrow and drifting, and may your hunting be full of mice. ~ Ursula
