A young male #rhino at #Kaziranga, #Assam looks at the inquisitive safari car!
Yesterday was the #worldRhinoday! 🦏 A day dedicated to the stunning pre-historic animal who has fallen for human lust since time immemorial... And then, humans loved them again...
I asked Dr Deba Dutta in Manas National Park, @puspanjaleedasdutta 's husband whether he knows all the 71 rhinos of the park. His answer was affirmative. Not only he knows them by face, he knows their life struggles, longings, and leaves no stone unturned to ensure their safety!
Credit is due to researchers and wildlife enthusiasts like him who have made immense contribution to rhino conservation in Indian subcontinent. .
The day strives to debunk myths related to the rhino horn being curative and hence is of great business value in Asian markets. .
We join hands to celebrate all five species of rhino: Black, white, greater one-horned, Sumatran and Javan rhinos! Here is to life and more!
