What should you do before going shopping?
Now that you know you should have goals, what else should you do before going shopping? *
Make the most of your time shopping and don't use it as a first option - it should be the last part of your process. Many times we mindlessly shop (like mindless eatings) without any purpose, direction or goals. * Write down what you think you “need.” Now go through your closet and confirm you don’t already have it. TRUST ME when I say that I have seen clients with clothing and shoes in the “Donate” box that I determine are what they need for their style. Or they have that great black blazer in the back of the closet collecting dust. * Will it work? Determine if what you want will enhance and go with many of the things you already own? Make sure you don’t buy anything unless you know you will wear it with at least three other items AND you will wear it at least 30 times. * Make a list and sit on it for two to four weeks. I have waited for years (no joke) sometimes for the perfect items and when I do that, I tend to keep what I've found. Think about items that you've purchased that weren’t EXACTLY what you were looking for and what's happened to them? They've probably moved along. Make the list and stick to it.
