Thankful for restaurants with vegan options !
I really like eating vegan because I feel the healthiest eating loads of fruits and veggies. Before, when I would eat a Standard American Diet (which ironically, the acronym for this is SAD) I would feel gross, bloated, and oily if that makes sense. Like, I could literally feel the oil coming out of my skin ! Now, I feel pure, clean and I never feel bloated.
One of the things I noticed after being vegan for about one year, is I felt much more peaceful. I know, it sounds crazy and hippie, but let me explain. My theory for this is because when you eat an animal, you eat its sadness. Actually, you eat their blood - In their blood is hormones. Before an animal is slaughtered, it goes through pain and suffers. Like humans, the hormones adrenaline and cortisol are released from the pituitary gland and enter the blood stream for it to escape whatever set off the “fight or flight” signal. Of course, in a slaughter house we all know the inevitable ending to this story... Because the food industry is built on supply and demand, we vote with our dollar. Every time we eat meat, dairy and eggs we are paying someone else to kill for us. We are saying that it’s okay to kill another being so that we can eat its meat or drink its milk.
I feel that once all of that cleared from my body and I no longer had another being’s sadness/fear inside of me, I could finally feel peace. Call me a hippie, or crazy, but try it first and see how you feel . A vegan diet allows me to care for my body/mind/spirit, helps the animals, and the earth. .
