The New York Mets & Detroit Tigers have reportedly came in contact to discuss a trade which includes 2B Ian Kinsler.
Ian Kinsler, who will turn 36 next year, had the worse season of his career. He hit .236 with 22 home runs and 52 RBI's in 139 games with the Tigers.
On the other hand, in 2016 Kinsler hit .288 with 28 home runs and 83 RBI's in 679 PA.
However, this move can go both ways.
David Wright's time is likely over as he hasn't played a game since May of 2016. If New York would to acquire Ian Kinsler, most likely Asdrubal Cabrera will shift to 3B.
Ian Kinsler, who has 1-year $11 million left on his contract would be a good pickup. That isn't a lot of money, and the Mets could go out and fill in other holes to be needed.
Ian Kinsler could also be a solid fit at 2B this year. Last season, Kinsler saved +6 defensive runs. Although he wouldn't make a significant impact on defense, he would definitely cover more ground then Neil Walker that's for sure.
Everyone seems to be thinking this is a great fit for New York. However, should we take a risk in acquiring him as he turns 36 next year and came off a bad season?
