Something a little different but at the same time familiar. Parents know their children, for the most part they understand them. And that is at the basis of this story. I believe that in most parents minds, if they believe just a little bit that their children aren’t straight, there is a likelihood that they are right. This isn’t to say that they are always right just that parents can sense these things, they brought they’re kids up and know them best. I love they way the parents don’t care at all about their son or daughter coming out but are most interested in the bet they had made to see whether it would actually happen.
Not all coming out experiences are emotional, some are just outright funny. Not to say we should joke about it but it is nice to see the other side of it which for me is the basis of this story: they don’t care who their child identifies as, they love them for who they are.
