Anyone else confused about all the names hair color has now? Join the club! **********************************
Long gone are the days of just making an appointment for color. Over the next few weeks, I am going to break it all down for you!
Unless you are just getting color applied to your regrowth only, 9 times out of 10, your stylist will be performing more in depth services. On average, please allow at least 3 hours for the service from start to end. Some techniques will take longer. It’s important to talk to your stylist and know what you are getting when making appointments! Some color techniques will even take 4+ hours.
The pictures we see on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, and the internet all seem to leave out how long the service took. Most of the pictures our clients bring in require multiple techniques: hilight/contour, color melting, toning, and root blurring. We want to give you the “color” you desire, but it’s very important that we have the proper amount of time to achieve this in! Today, I am going to talk about the technique FOILYAGE.
——————————————— What is foilyage? "Foilyage" is a color method that combines the hair painting of balayage with the color-intensifying power of foils. "Foilyage is a technique where the color is painted on the hair, just like balayage, but then each painted section is wrapped in foils.
We recommend Foilyage for our clients who are wanting to see if blondes really do have more fun...and fast!
In one session, Foilyage will get you blonder than Balayage. This is due to the application of foils! When lightener is applied to hair with foils, insulated heat quickens the lightening process.
APPROXIMATE Time Allowance*: Short hair (above chin) : 2 1/2 hours
Shoulder length: 3 hours
Mid back: 3 1/2 hours
Below mid back: 4+ hours *this does not include corrective color. Corrective color can add on time. I used this technique to achieve the color in the picture!
