💎 Rehabilitation Program for an Achilles Tendon Pain. 💎

Tendons are designed to withstand large forces to produce movement, however the tendon is exposed to repetitive high-magnitude loading, it can result In tendinopathy, which is painful.
Kongsgaard et al. 2009 compared corticosteroid injections, eccentric training and heavy slow resistance (HSR) training in Patellar tendinopathy. The study showed the HSR training gave some positive results over other interventions.
The training program is outlined in the Kongsgaard et al. 2015 paper in treating midportion Achilles Tendon Pain lasting for more than 3 months. The program compared Eccentric strengthening and HSR training for 12 weeks. Both training interventions showed positive results but patient satisfaction was greater after completing the HSR training protocol.
The HSR training program was performed 3 times a week. Each session consisted of three 2-legged exercises: heel raises with bended knee in the seated calf raise machine, heel raises with straight knee in the leg press machine, and heel raises with straight knee standing on disc weight or a step with barbell on shoulders. The patient is to complete 3 or 4 sets in each exercise with a 2-3- minute rest between sets and a 5- minute rest period between the 3 exercises. The repetitions is to be decreased each week and load gradually increased, every week as the tendon got stronger. The repetitions and load were as follows: 3 times, 15-repetition maximum (15RM), in week 1; 3 times, 12RM, in weeks 2 to 3; 4 times, 10RM, in weeks 4 to 5; 4 times, 8RM, in weeks 6 to 8; and 4 times, 6RM, in weeks 9 to 12. All exercises are to be performed in the full range of motion of the ankle joint, and patients are instructed to spend 3 seconds completing each eccentric and concentric phase (ie, 6 seconds per repetition). So you had an injury. That sucks. But it was months ago, and you are still dealing with the after effects. That sucks worse. You still have pain, stiffness, and limitation in the activities that you want to do. ⠀

If you look at the graph above (thanks to Boston Bodyworker for the photo), you will see the normal healing times for various tissues in our body (yes, there can be variations, but this will apply to most people). If you are past those times, and still dealing with the after effects of an injury, guess what.....⠀

You are no long injured. ⠀

In the traditional sense. ⠀

Your tissues have healed, as your body has evolved to do. So what is going on then?⠀

Tissue sensitivity is what. ⠀

Your previously injured areas may still be sensitive to certain types, directions, or amounts of load. Think about how a hot shower feels on sunburned skin. Unlike our skin that is constantly being replaced and remade, our tendons and muscles go through remodeling much slower. ⠀

You MUST provide a consistent load to the injured (or previously injured) areas in order to have those tissues remodel in a way that works for you and your activities, as our body only adapts to what we put it through. But it won't happen overnight, just as the tissues don't heal overnight. ⠀

It needs to be consistent (did I say that already?), it needs to be at the right intensity, and it needs to be progressed at the right speed. ⠀

Shit takes time. Load it, be patient, and trust the process. ⠀

Don't know how to move forward? Find somebody that does. Get a coach. Find a physio that doesn't just provide passive treatments and stretching. You deserve better than that. ⠀

Benim ilk kaş maskaram oldu kendisi 😃 Daha önce hiç kaş maskarası kullanmamıştım, sadece kaş kalemi ve pomadı kullanmıştım. Şuan içimden kendime kızıyorum neden daha önce kaş maskarası kullanmamışım diye 😂 Bu ürün asla kaşı doldurmaya gerek bırakmadan güzelce tarıyor ve sabitliyor. Ben aşırı beğendim. Yalnızca fırçaya bir tık fazla ürün geliyor ama fırçayı tüpün kenarlarına sürerek fazlalığı geri koyuyorum. Belki bir kaç hafta sonra biraz daha ıslaklığı gider, toparlanır bu sorun da ortadan kalkar. Fiyatı da 12₺ küsürdü. Kaş maskarası arıyorsanız bence mutlaka bakın ❤️

Cranky Hip Flexors?😠

MYTH: Muscles become more flexible by simply stretching. .
TRUTH: Actively contracting against resistance WHILE lengthening the muscle helps produce an increase in lengthening.

Try active resistance for improved flexibility versus static stretching.
.
In this video, I’m using the pull of a cable column to provide resistance and I’m actively resisting against it. (Alternatively, you can use a resistance band)
.
Why add resistance? Your body must learn to adapt to varying forces in order to feel safe in a new range of motion. Otherwise, your muscles return to their original position once you come out of the stretch, just like releasing tension on a rubber band.

As with anything in health and fitness, consistency is key and change is cumulative. Keep going!🤨
.
If you have cranky hip flexors that aren’t improving, stay tuned for more resistance exercises coming your way. In addition to stretching, you also need to load those muscles and STRENGTHEN them!💪🏼
