The number one song in the US on July 5, 1955 was Bill Haley and the Comets’ “Rock Around the Clock,” which inspired us to go with a 5️⃣0️⃣’s theme for tonight’s #familydinner.
In the 1950’s manufacturers started marketing foods that somewhat eased the burdens in the kitchen. For example, the introduction of canned creamed soups made casseroles easier and more popular. However nothing screamed simplicity and convenience more than the advent of the TV Dinner! When I mentioned this to the family last week the overwhelming majority voted that we serve actual frozen dinners tonight, as they are something of a novelty in our home 😂
We have never brought the TV out for one of our gatherings, however in the spirit of the evening we watched some “I Love Lucy” 💗 For dessert: Root Beer Floats! .
