On my final plane back to the United States last May, I wrote: “So where home is now, I don’t know. Maybe it’s not even one place, but the aggregate of all the earthly spaces where a bit of my heart lies.” I find peace in this now, as we say goodbye to a place that I deemed home for 22 years. Onward without this land or house as a tether, Michigan will nonetheless occupy sizeable real estate in my soul forevermore. As I watch my family disseminate, taking flight from this basecamp and seeking out new chapters, I am so excited for our conceptions of “home” to continue to grow. 👋🏻🏡🌱 Now, time to change my permanent address!
