DON'T GET LOCKED INTO ONE WAY -
When you go to start your training journey you will possibly end up reading a fair few articles online and you might even hire a coach. Both of these are great and are going to help you excel and hopefully get you the result you want. -
The problem is you might just get locked into one way e.g. weight training is the only way, No cardio is the only way, well actually crossfit is the only way, hell no crossfit isn't the only way it is HIIT training boosh and well you know the list goes on right. Add on top of this you might even get your mateys telling you there way is the only way. Hell there is a lot of only ways right there! The thing is they all have there merit and ultimately could all actually help you achieve what you want to achieve. I would say there is only really one in there that has to be done and that is weight/resistance training and this is purely to ensure preservation of muscle tissue. Because during a phase of changing your lifestyle to lose body fat you will be in a deficit and this could lead to decreased muscle tissue if not done right but that's another post for another time. -
Like I said above every single one of them have there merit. Now don't get me wrong you'll possibly never see me doing crossfit. Why? Because I don't bloody like it and the injuries that I have sustained through my rugby career would possibly not really like it.
The thing is you could also look at this the other way and say "well X exercise works really well for me" and to that I would say cool keep it in there. Just realise that sooner or later you might have to add something else in to see more progress. Don't get married to just one way! -
