Rather be back here than studying for finals 🏖
How is everyone doing?? Little update: I’ll be back in the states in about a week (plus or minus a few hours because of the time zone change) and I’m currently in finals week. This semester has been the most eye-opening experience I’ve put myself through and has made me realize just how crappy and self-centered Americans are when it comes to other cultures. The saying “you’re in America, speak English” will never come out of my mouth again. Everyone I’ve come across in Greece, Italy, and Belgium (also went to London but they speak English) that I’ve spoken to either speaks broken English, fluent, or a handful of languages and here I am barely picking up on the common Greek phrases and I’ve lived here for 3 1/2 months. Learning another language is hard but to be fluent in more than one to help someone like me out?? Props to you those kind of people have been lifesavers. I miss America and my shower, bed, family, friends, pets, boyfriend, driving and not being worried about being hit in a crosswalk, but I’ll also miss the true friends I made over here and the history, architecture, and cultures that surround me every day. I even got my first tattoo and it’s Greek related (check it out on @ally6866 ) because this experience has been more than I could have imagined. Thank you Greece, I’ll be taking in my last days very thankfully for all you’ve given me.
