Fred's Phoetry for kids. .
..... If I Had Me a Book
If I had me a book I could read you a story,
Of chasing rags to riches then on into glory.
Like, remember the time when we were just kids,
We found those old boxes and pried open the lids.
Out jumped a Genie whose first name was Max
Then this beautiful Fairy who's named Bobbee Jacks.
They were both very formal, saluted then bowed,
introduced themselves each in voices quite loud.
Their scheme was goldventure in a hot air balloon,
with the intent of leaving that same afternoon.
We'd load up the basket with magical supplies,
it wouldn’t matter how much, the number, or size.
We'd be gone for 2 years, 5 months and spare change,
Any longer and people might say we are strange.
First stop, Him-a-lay-as, with Max commanding,
Then search for gold treasure at Mt. Shes-a-standing.
We'd fly down to the ocean to catch the sea breeze,
Sailing over the water as free as we please.
Then in the distance we spot Long-Beard the Pirate,
Looks like his sailors on ship want to riot.
Suddenly my mother stands filling the doorway
She snuck up behind us came right through the hallway,
Said we'd better stop talking and playing around,
And she didn't want to hear not even one sound.
Suddenly a nap stops the adventure cold
So, no more Himalayas', pirates or gold.
