Over three hours later I’m still on the bloody train back to London🤦🏽‍♀️

Reflecting on a fabulous weekend even though I feel like I blinked and it was over! My only bit of movement was this morning’s posterior chain workout with @mjfitnesscardiff (incl forcing him to train core afterwards too)😁

My workout was completely fuelled by copious amounts of everything I don’t usually eat - dairy and eggs (mainly in the form of cookies and that incredible cake)😍

So although I felt shit when I woke up this morning, it was totally worth the stomach ache🍪🍰😬

I can tell I have gotten stronger.
Weight is moving so much smoother.🔋
Some people may believe I need to increase weight, but I try to shorten rest time 1st. This way I don’t need to strain and in my head I prevent injuries this way. 🔌

Today was a test for my squat strength, endurance, and mental stability. Started my lift off with a 5x4 @ 295 lbs, AMRAP’ing that last set @ 6 reps. Then all lower body hypertrophy after that, then a little HIIT action, while attempting, and miserably failing at Single Arm KB swings with a 30 lb KB.

As of today, my project total is at 1,115 lbs.

Squat = 350 lbs
Bench = 295 lbs
Deadlift = 470 lbs

Still a bit out, but ready to keep focus on training and getting it done!

Today was a LONG lift. Started w/ a 5x3 @ 385 lbs on deadlift, AMRAP’ing my last set @ 7 reps. Then I hit bench for a 5x4 @ 245, AMRAP’ing my last set @ 6 reps. My projected total was 1,090, but currently is at 1,110 lbs. tomorrow, I get my squat tested and we’ll see what my real projected total is. Also, ignore my head coming off the bench. “Don’t be a bitch. Let’s go!” - @valentine_1522 , thank you for motivating me on my deadlifts today. Hit a 5x4 on bench @ 240 lbs, finishing the last AMRAP set @ 6 reps. Then hit 385 for a 3x3 @ 385 deadlift w/ the last set @ 6 reps. {The Trap Bar}

Let's talk about the versatility of the trap bar. Whether you're a powerlifter, avid strength trainee or general gym goer the trap bar is something you'll want to include at some point in your training.

First of all deadlifts. It's no lie that powerlifting is tough on your lower back, what with all the heavy squatting and deadlifting with a straight bar. Of course, there are ways we can try to mitigate this stress and the trap bar is one of those. ======================================
In addition to this trap bar deadlifts are fantastic for newcomers. It has a smaller learning curve than regular barbell deadlifts and for some gym goers there might never be a need to even do a barbell deadlift, however, a deadlift pattern is still needed, and in comes the trap bar.

If you watch through the video you'll see a variety of exercises you can use the trap bar to provide either less lumbar stress or a slightly different strength curve or simply a new variation to provide a novel stimulus
-Romanian deadlift
-Bent over row
-Split Squats
-Farmers Carry
-Overhead Press

And if you're looking for a complete warm-up or short workout try the following:

Deadlift x 10
Romanian deadlift x 10
Bent over row x 10
Split Squats x 10
Overhead Press x 10
Farmers Carry x 20m

For warm-up complete one circuit with the empty bar
For a complex (you'll need chalk, determination and an indomitable will) perform one circuit, add 5-10kg, one circuit, add 5-10kg, until you can only just complete a circuit. Then drop the weight 20-30% and complete two more circuits.

I never got the chance to congratulate my two edge challenge team members on their amazing accomplishments. Darrell Nemeth lost a total of 58.1 lbs in 8 weeks, taking 1st place in the challenge at Deptford, and 6th overall in the ENTIRE COMPANY. Gary Fox finished in 3rd place at Deptford with a total of 45 lbs lost in 8 weeks, and 19th overall. It was our first challenge here in NJ, and they absolutely CRUSHED IT!
