"When I was 11, I went to Spain and lived with a host family. I [couldn’t] speak Spanish then. But my stay with them taught me a lot of things - it was the best experience. I became independent and learned a lot.
From there, I came back to the Philippines and studied Spanish for almost 10 years. I basically organized my life around it, and what I learned from it. And it opened doors to many opportunities - I was able to live and work in Paris, Amsterdam, and Milan. Until I became a professor in France. Back then, there were no fairs so I did all the research on my own. And I'd gladly do it all over again." -Danie Laurel-Fois (@danielaurelfois)
