Photo @ladzinski / From the car it looked like a mirage, blurredly wobbling in the distance from the heat reflecting off of the desert. A #minorVolcano that never generated enough power to erupt. It’s considered sacred to the local Aymara people and a surreal geological feature to see at any angle.

Fascinating ! The cone of Arita, mysterious natural pyramid in the middle of the salar de Arizaro, province of Salta in Argentina.
Salar de Arizaro is the sixth largest salt lake on earth and the second largest in Argentina, 70 km from the village of Tolar Grande.
The almost perfect cone rises unexpectedly in the middle of this bowl of salt.
According to the archaeological remains found in the cone, the place was a ceremonial center before the arrival of the Incas. It is located at 3590 m altitude, its height is about 150 m #conodearita #argentina #salta #salardearizaro #tolargrande #incas #running #cono #salt #pyramid #volcano #volcan
