For today’s Opinions About Teams, we have the Toronto Raptors. Now, obviously the Raptors will be a much different team this year with the department of a franchise great, and I’m turn getting a terrific defender but has yet to return to basketball due to “recovery”, and will likely leave in free agency. So yeah if Kawhi was completely healthy without a doubt and had more years on his contract, this trade would look better on paper for the Raptors. But right now, they hurt their image from fans and potential free agent targets, traded a guy who was arguably their best player ever in franchise history, and got a guy who likely doesn’t want to be there and likely won’t stay. So Toronto doesn’t look all that good business-wise right now and they took the L in the trade. However, with zero success in the playoffs when they are a championship contending team is disappointing, but they still could’ve waited a year to go for a run with their crew while Lebron left. But they didn’t, so let’s focus on what’ll happen if Kawhi is healthy. The Raptors will once again have an elite bench mob, borderline allstar point guard, and excellent defense I’m Kawhi, OG, and Ibaka at least. I think with Kawhi healthy, they are certainly the team on top in the East, with Sixers lacking another star and experience, but the Celtics could (probably will) all be healthy and stinkin destroy competition with the return of TWO all stars after Big Al and young guys took Lebron to 7. I think Toronto will win close to 57 games. Honestly Toronto should have success but I doubt they’ll have the same amount of fans due to lack of loyalty to great stars that want to be there, and it may be almost as bad as Boston trading Isaiah Thomas. Anyways, summary is Toronto will be successful if healthy, but I think they’ll go into rebuild mode by 2020-2021 season.
