#repost @dswt: We’re sad to report that Sudan, the world’s last male northern white rhino, has died.
Sudan, who was 45, passed away at Ol Pejeta Conservancy due to age-related complications. His death brings the subspecies a step closer to extinction, with his daughter and granddaughter now the only remaining northern white rhinos. Sudan had become a conservation icon, an ambassador for his species, and a reminder of the very real threat of poaching. His loss is a stark reminder of the need to protect our planet’s wildlife, particularly those species that are put in a precarious position due to human actions.
