✌🏽 out, Mississippi! It was a quick stop in Ocean Springs with a visit to Biloxi, but we had some beautifully sunny, although chilly, weather and friendly neighbors at our campsite.•
We arrived to our spot after dark and had to set up in the rain, which was a first for us. We’re going to try our best to not let that happen again because it puts just a *little* bit of strain on the whole process (aka Caleb almost ran over me with the truck because he couldn’t see me) 🤪 It felt like midnight but it was actually only 5:30! I really can’t get used to the sun setting so early. •
Luckily, the rain was gone by morning and we had lots of sunshine to explore Biloxi and adorable downtown Ocean Springs. We loved it there! Depending on where you live, it would be a great weekend getaway with your spouse or friends. Tons of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, boutiques and galleries and super close proximity to Biloxi so you can get your gambling fix (if that’s your thing). We weren’t able to park at a casino due to the height of our truck with the kayaks on top, so we took that as a sign we didn’t need to test our luck 🍀. •
That night, we made a fire and hung out around it for several hours before deciding to roast some marshmallows for s’mores. I kid you not, as soon as we got out our supplies, a raccoon 🦝came RIGHT up to us. He was so stealthy we didn’t hear him until he was literally steps from us. We chased him off several times, but he kept coming back until we put the food away. He did manage to steal one of my flip flops though, but Caleb found it in the woods behind our camper a little while later 😂•
Onward to Louisiana! We’ve never been to New Orleans, so we’re super excited about that. We’re also doing an airboat tour and going to a gumbo and brass band festival. Send me some recommendations!!
