FT 》Espanyol 0—4 Barça
In need of a goal to cut distances, Espanyol tried to put pressure on us as soon as the second half started. As minutes went by, though, we took control of the game again and started to impose our will. And who else than Messi to score another golazo, another perfect free-kick. No distances are long for him.
As soon as that happened, Ernesto Valverde introduced Philippe Coutinho. With a big margin, I think there was no need to sub him on. Maybe Aleñá should have been chosen instead. Ousmane Dembélé didn't complete the 90 minutes after another convincing performance.
Almost as a consolation, Óscar Duarte got on the scoresheet following a set piece. Nonetheless, after a long wait, VAR cancelled it due to an offside position from the defender. This would mean that we would keep a clean sheet in the league for a second consecutive occasion. We were pretty solid defensively, only being damaged through a few corners.
Munir and Denis got their chances in the final minutes of the match, replacing Suárez and Rakitić. With a bit of rest, our team demonstrated what they're capable of, and against Spurs we should see much more rotation.
0—4, a Messi masterclass, an exhibition from the MSD and a great display from our whole squad. Thank you, Barça. And thank you @rcdespanyol as well for that final ovation. A Catalan derby which lived up to expectations. Leaders, with a 3-point margin over Atlético de Madrid and Sevilla. VAMOS!! ForçaBarça •
