When you are halfway through washday & remember the porosity float/strand test you promised.
During washday, get a strand of clean hair & drop it in water. If the strand sinks rapidly to the bottom, then you have high porosity hair. If it floats somewhere in the middle, then it’s normal porosity. If it stays at the top (like mine) that takes forever to sink, then your hair is low porosity. Once you know, you are better equipped to use a regimen fit for you.
-tight cuticles, that don't open up much for moisture.
-products you use don't easily absorb into your hair, & kind sit on top - try sticking to liquid based products, avoid products loaded with oils, as oils are sealants for the cuticle -humectant is your friend e.g. glycerin
-always apply product to damp hair to ease your cuticles into it.
-Once moisture is in, you have it for a while 👌
-hair takes a while to dry -hair sank rapidly to the bottom because the cuticles had big gaps that allowed the water super quick; the damage is caused by e.g. heat.
-protein treatments are your friend
-focus on oil intense products, thick butters etc to aid in cuticle sealing
