Same exercise, different weights. •

About a month and a half ago, I made a terrible mistake involving kettlebell snatches that were roughly 5 lbs too heavy and a left shoulder that most definitely didn’t take too kindly to them. Let’s just say it moved in and out of alignment.

I hate to complain about injury, so i didn’t. Instead I immediately backed off the weights and have been slowly trying to rebuild equal strength in both shoulders. I’m hyper aware of the imbalance of my shoulders at times, but have built back up to 25s recently (second vid). Still working on improving the ROM without twinges, and rest assured I won’t be snatching outside my comfort zone any time soon.

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Beginner
SECONDARY MUSCLE(S): None

Straight Bar Tricep Extension Instructions

1. Attach a straight bar to a cable stack as high as possible and assume a standing position.
2. Grasp the straight bar with a pronated grip (palms facing down) and lean forward slightly by hinging at the hips.
3. Initiate the movement by extending the elbows and flexing the triceps.
4. Pull the handle downward until the elbows are almost locked out and then slowly lower under control back to the starting position.

Never judge a workout by your warmup. It took all 4 of my warmup miles to get my legs fired up. I was getting mad and frustrated with myself. Prior to this long run, I had only succeeded in matching 75% of my track workout on Wednesday and I had to pull the plug on my long run the previous weekend. To have "failed" my last two quality workouts, I felt so defeated. Fortunately I was able to channel my frustration and I nailed my long run yesterday. I was even below target pace and it felt good. I still have some quality time left before my next race. I'm focused on getting out of my head and getting the job done.

My goals and interests in fitness change throughout the years but the one thing that remains constant, is that I love movement!
I am an athlete and I love to feeling of pushing my limits, achieving new performance goals, the feeling of endorphins kicking in after a great workout, and feeling like I embracing each day to make myself better. -

I have been focused on my contest prep for the last 5months and even though my calorie intake is really low, and my calorie burn/cardio is really high- I still love the feeling of getting up each morning “with purpose” and then accomplishment. -

In less than a week I will be stepping on stage as a Professional Figure Athlete in my rhinestone suit and 5inch heels, feeling like a princess; but trust me the process to get there brings out the beast in me👊🏻

Yesterday’s trail run could have been a flop if I focused on how low my energy is, how hungry I am, how tired I am, and much more. But my attitude and my love for the Athletic side of being a competitor- far outweighs any negativity.

Felt a little stiff today from the last few days of yard work, but we made it work. I had my prep client Deb train with me today. It's always exciting to educate someone on what real intensity is like when training for physique competition. Usually they under-estimate how hard they have to train to really make progress.
I posted yesterday about how heavy hip thrusts offer more risk than reward, here is my alternative to the super-heavy approach: use the band. Here's highlights from today... A. Seated leg curls 6x10 (kept adding weight until we couldn't get 10)

B. Romanian/Yates DL 4x8

C1. SLDL 3x10
C2. Sumo DL w/ bands 3x10

D1. Goblet squat 2x15
D2. KB swing 2x15

Just one of those days where I am full of smiles, because I am thankful for everything God has done for me. Not to mention, I finally got some sunshine. ☀️ I have been staying to myself lately and have been in the best headspace. I have only had one anxiety attack this month and managed to handle it well. (I always focus on three objects in front of me to bring me back to reality)
I have been grinding on my academic and fitness goals. I got accepted into my first choice of nursing school and decided to push myself out of my comfort zone with a bikini competition. I may not have a shredded six pack or super defined quads, but I don’t care. I am getting stronger and my heart rate up everyday. The workouts that I use to struggle with are becoming easier day by day. I am not sure what will happen when I get on that stage in October, I could place dead last. All I know is that no matter what happens I will be proud to say that I gave it my all. I am happy, healthy, and strong. ❤️

This video was taken during @sunsoutfitness trail run challenge on the top of mountain around olongapo Area . Thanks @gactiveph for fueling us up during our event over this weekend. All the participants got lost along the way but were able to finish the race. The race should be only 10km but since all didnt found the right trail it became 15km almost. To my Squad who’s sticked with me up until the end @ronmadrid @rob807 @rr_burpeenator @itsmrchadd @justinlazaro_ and to the only one girl in the group @vvfoxie you really did great💪..i should give you an award for that. beast.Sorry for the scratches and cuts around your legs and arms..🙏🏻...

TRICEP PUSHDOWN ROPE.

The rope push-down proved 74 percent as effective as these push-ups in targeting all three heads of the triceps. It put more emphasis on the long head of the muscle as compared to the lateral head.
