Walking across Abbey Road was way more fun and memorable than I realized it would be. So I’m making my way out there on a chilly night, it’s getting dark on me, and never having been there before I have no idea if there’s a charge for it, if it’s blocked off, or if it’s even open. I’m following Apple Maps (thank God for Apple Maps, I use it constantly while traveling), and I see I’m getting closer, closer, and then suddenly there it is. No hoopla or signs, no line for tickets, just an iconic view made famous by an album cover. The street isn’t blocked off, and there are cars passing regularly, but the coolest thing is that everyone knows people are going to be crossing and taking pics, so the cars politely stop and let you do your thing before they pass. I must have crossed 10 times. Swipe left and you can see my addition to this crossing’s history. There’s just something about doing this that makes you happy. I can’t really explain it, but it’s definitely a must if you’re visiting London.
