She said: "Join us for a bike ride!"
I said: "I haven't rode my bike in a year! I'll be too slow."
She said: "We can slow down for you." I had No Excuses.
I needed to get on my bike. Even though it scares me to death. My balance is horrible. I seem to crash, really, really hard, whenever I get on a bike. One time I wrecked because a groundhog distracted me & the groundhog won as I ended up on the ground bloodied & bruised. It took ten years before I got on a bike again!
I was shaking as I got ready to meet up with them & I wondered if my antique cushioned biking shorts would still fit & WooHoo! they did!
My husband pumped air in my tires & said "you really need to learn how to do this."
Yes, I know. I HAVE SO MUCH TO LEARN ABOUT THIS TRI-ATHLETE WORLD!!! And I showed up!
I acted brave!
And they were patient. Very patient, as we rode just a little over ten miles...without falling!! Only 2 more miles to add for my June race #restontriathlon
And only 46 more miles for the #augustahalfironman
Baby steps. One ride at a time. Slowly I'll figure out this biking thing.

Also, first time I ever listened to music at the gym cause I only went in to do stairs and the cable hanging there wasn’t a problem

Girls CAN DO Pull-ups
This strong lady @rayroxvegas Owner of @wristcandybyrachel started training with me on March 3, 2018. Pull-ups were new to her. We started with band assisted pull-ups (underhand grip) and flexed arm hangs (also underhand grip). Now 2 months later she can do an unassisted underhand grip pull-up (i.e. chin-up) from standing!!! She actually did 3 that day!! Congrats Rachel !
Her next progression will be to do a pull-up from a dead hang.
For any ladies out there wondering, a pull-up from standing COUNTS!! It IS a pull-up. It means you are about 99.9% closer to doing one from a dead hang.
The pull-up from a standing position comes first because when you pull yourself up from a standing position you are pulling yourself up from a position of “rest”.
The pull-up from a dead hang is harder because you are pulling yourself up from an active, working, position, which is a static hang. This static hang is WORK. It is time under tension for your body. So you’ve already started doing pull-up work when you start in a dead hang position. Therefore your body needs to build a little more strength and coordination to learn how to pull your body from the static hang position of a dead hang into the dynamic hang that is a pull-up.
