Saturn: Climbing the Mountain of Ambition
I recently binged on three docos about rock-climbing in Yosemite.
Yosemite’s one of my favourite places on earth, and I was procrastinating like a MOFO that weekend on scaling my own mountain.
So I tuned in to the achievements of the men (and a few women) whose calling in life is to single-mindedly pull themselves up giant walls of rock in order to push past their limits, etch their names into the history books and show other rock stars what can be done.
The Dawn Wall blew my mind.
As an astrologer with an online biz, I'm no mountain climbing athlete facing the sheer granite walls of El Capitan.
Whereas Tommy Caldwell didn’t let an amputated index finger stop his quest, my biggest challenges involve fixing tech problems and making endless streams of content for programs and blogs.
But if you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know my blogs have been rare as unicorn blood lately… Here’s why:
Last year was my Dawn Wall. With twelve major Saturn transits, it was the Time to Manifest My Most Important Goals, Or Else.
Saturn’s the lord of time, structure and organisation. The archetype of manifesting goals and bringing the intangible into form, he gives us the discipline, patience, tenacity and resilience to keep going until we reach the top.
He can be a wise teacher or a harsh critic - usually both.
He’ll show you the best route, make sure you’ve got your gear in order, then tell you to get the fuck up and keep going when you slip.
Saturn ain’t got no time for excuses.
You can’t avoid responsibility or back down from your challenges when the sands in Saturn’s hourglass of ambition start flowing your way.
For weeks, Tommy and Kevin live in tents pitched to the side of the wall as they make their way to the top. Once they’re up, there’s no going down!
