💚🌱💪Just some transformation Tuesday motivation. The vegan lifestyle has been good to me. About 11 months and over 70 lbs down. I accomplished this by eating well, exercise and monthly detoxes. I scheduled my next detox for the Monday following Thanksgiving on purpose (to cleanse from all that food and to finish 2018 feeling good)💃

For the wedges, how do you get them crispy on the outside but soft on the inside? Oil. Not a tonne, but just a nice even coating! 200°C for 30-40 minutes (more or less time depending on how good your oven is!)

➡️1 Pan Vegan Lunch:
Diced up 2 mini sweet potatoes and broccoliflower (basically green cauliflower) from @imperfectproduce and the rest of my broccoli from @traderjoes . Sprayed some olive oil and topped with garlic and seasoning salt .
🔥Baked at 410 for 35-40 min(flipped at the 25 min mark); thrown over spinach with the remain of my favorite #sesamefree hummus from @heredotco bc #allergic to sesame and their dips are amazing!!

PROTEIN POWDERS

Less research has been done on plant-based protein than whey. But there's still a few things that we do know. 🌱

Plant protein promotes muscle development, strength gains, & muscle recovery in the same ways as whey does.

With increasing demand for vegan protein recently, it has become more convenient, with a lot of variety available.
Just like whey,
you'll find an array of flavours 🍓🥥🍌☕🍫 - some you love the taste of, & some you can't stand.

Let's look at the differences:
DIGESTION. Vegan proteins in general take longer to digest. This means it works really well pre-workout, meal replacement/between meals, & before bed.
It's not as good post-workout, & horrible intra-workout.
ANIMALS & ENVIRONMENT. It was an ethical decision that made me make the switch... aligning my values with my actions.
I've continued to progress in my size & strength goals since making the switch.

There are other vegan protein powder options available, pea & rice have better amino acid profiles.
Hemp is alright.
I DL don't rate soy protein.

⭐️Lentil Salad - IRON RICH MEAL! #anemia #irondeficiency 🌱Did you know that lentils are LOADED with #IRON and protein - not to mention #highfiber? ⭐️👉🏻Ingredients:
👉🏻1.5 cup of lentils, rinsed (10mg of iron - 27g of protein)
👉🏻½ red onion, diced
👉🏻2 diced green onions
👉🏻1 carrot diced
👉🏻Sprig of parsley, diced
👉🏻1 pomegranate, seeded
👉🏻1 cup of spinach, diced
👉🏻2 lemons, juiced (used separately)
👉🏻Fresh black pepper, to taste
👉🏻Ground garlic, to taste
👉🏻OPTIONAL: Cayenne Pepper, to taste (spicy) ⭐️👉🏻Directions: 👉🏻GAS ELIMINATION: soak lentils in cold water overnight with lemon juice (1 lemon) – reduces the phytate levels (this causes gas) – rinse lentils until the water is clear.
