Christmas blog alert... Take some time to relax.
It's Christmas time and as the saying goes, it is all "Mistletoe and wine"
I call it silly season.
Everyone wants to see one another to have the merry drinks and food...normally a lot of both!
Socialising is a form of relaxing, I get that.
There is no better tonic than laughing with your friends and family.
All of it takes effort and energy both physically and mentally, so there is a balance to be had.
Don't take this as I don't like all the fun around this time of the year myself, as I definitely do, but! with everything there is an opportunity cost to what we put ourselves through.
The more we socialise, the less time we make for ourselves to relax.
As you will have noticed, the nights have drawn in, the days are colder but life doesn't slow down. We're all still working, looking after the family and plugging away but now we're trying to cram as much in as possible.
Tis season to be jolly!
What I am talking about is the time you take for yourself, that is away from the hustle and bustle. We're all very different with what works for us as individuals so do what feels right for you.
You will feel the benefits from taking some time back for yourself even if it's for 10 minutes or a whole weekend.
Maybe these are some of the things you want to do but haven't.....yet. - The lie in you seldom never take but could
- A night in with the family watching a film/ playing games with no phones going off
- Meditating - The walk through the woods on a chilly morning to listen to nature
- Taking a bath or visiting a Spa
Make the time.
You'll enjoy it.
