Bliss is sitting outside under the sun filled sky with your morning coffee. I love this time of year, when you can enjoy being outdoors and filling your lungs with fresh air. It’s so uplifting and a great way to set a positive tone to your day.
With this glorious weather though comes bugs, and I’m not a huge fan. To keep the pests away, I’ve enjoyed creating my own little essential oil blends to spray and also choosing certain plants that are known for their natural repellent properties. One plant I love to incorporate into our outdoor sitting area is rosemary. I love rosemary for so many reasons, but one big reason is that it repels mosquitoes because they hate the scent. We however love the scent so it’s a win win.
As for the blends that I spray around the house to keep the pests away, the recipe is below. I spray our windowsills, doorways, our patio umbrella, and on us as well if it’s an especially buggy night and we are trying to enjoy some outdoor time. Swipe to see my suggested oils for certain pests.
DIY Pest Spray
2 ounce glass spray bottle
4 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon vodka
6 drops of your favorite essential oils
(for example, if selecting three oils for your blend, use two drops of each).
Spray yourself or areas where you are trying to repel pests.
