“Bring Me Back To New York Hope”
Essay by Ina B.
I just met @dave.krugman today at @jasonmpeterson #Colorblind #photography workshop & going through his photos, I came across this one, which reminds me of #NewYork, where my career shift happened. To me, this image represents #Hope and the texture, composition, and saturation brings me back to that first feeling of falling in love in New York. I can almost smell this photo, perhaps because it is so vibrant that my mind is reconstructing from memory the visceral response I had when I first stepped off the plane. I can tell that story a hundred different ways and a hundred different times I remember something new and different I left out of a previous version. The #WelcomeToNewYork feeling, after taking a flight that forever altered my trajectory in life is incredible and exhilarating, still fresh, still tangible, like this photo. I have to remember that feeling now, to grasp why I took flight, why I wanted so badly to find a unique way to tell my story, why I fought so hard, why I felt so hopeful then. Now, if someone took a picture of my feelings, it would be dark and black and white, like most of my instagram, which is black and white for precisely this reason. Every once in a while, however, I have to find #color and connect to people, places, and things that jolt my emotions to vibrate on the same frequency as when I first decided in New York to see my dreams through and go for broke. #Storytelling #Photography #Art #Writing #Storyteller #Actress #Writer #Humanitarian #Activist #Philanthropist #LoveNeverGivesUp
