After finally returning to fitness in mid September after another long injury lay off, Wilshere slowly started looking like himself again. Once the festive fixtures came into play, he was fantastic. Jack was playing every game and looking like his old self, driving through teams and splitting defenses. Towards the Spring, he’s not been as effective but is still a fantastic player to have around. Wilshere made 38 appearances this season, his most for eight years. He scored twice and provided five assists with an average passing accuracy of 86.4% across all competitions. Somehow, Wilshere hasn’t been picked for England’s World Cup squad so he should be fit and sharp as ever for the first game of next season but it’s a shocking decision from Gareth Southgate. Wilshere is their most creative midfielder, if not the best they have. The 26 year old’s contract expires in June and nothing has been signed yet. It’s reported that the new manager’s plans for him specifically will be what decides his future. Wilshere is coming back and although he wasn’t at his best all season, it’s great to have him back in an Arsenal shirt.
