I don't want to jinx us or anything, but we had a wild start to week and I'm so thankful for how it turned out!
On Tuesday, around lunch time #willthethrill started to complain that his mouth hurt and kept crying. His temp was normal so I assumed it was his last 2 year molar, gave him teething meds and took him to bed for his nap. Two hours later he was still wide awake and complaining about his mouth. I kept trying to get him to clarify if it was his teeth or throat but he just said "mouth".🤷 I took his temp again since he felt hot and this time it was 101.6, so of course strep and flu start creeping in my head. Another 2 hours passed during which time we just did lots of skin to skin and resting, and this time the thermometer said 103.6. Cue the FTM panic since I'm 8 months pregnant and it's the worst season for sickness!
We took him to after hours urgent care to avoid risking an ER bill if it continued to rise that night. Strep and flu were negative but "his ear is red so we gave you an amox prescription for him to take for 10 days". 🙄 Ummm, no thank you? So we didn't fill it and saw our regular pedi the next day even though he was already better. She took one look and said "his ears look fantastic; he has HFMD!" 🙌🙌 His fever only lasted about 10 hours, his mouth only hurt until last night, and as of today he already says nothing hurts!
So thankful to squeak past the other possibilities this week!!
