What a game... What a night!
Panthers WIN with my 3 most important guys!
We have come a long way friends...
You see Chase started skating right after my dad got sick and came to live with us etc... I was happy that through the midst of hospital visits, home health, cardiac/pulmonary therapies, dr visits, and more, somehow we were able to help facilitate Chase finding his thing... HOCKEY! This may seem insignificant but caring for a parent while caring as a parent to your own small child is such a tough role making sure everyone is getting the attention, opportunities and care they need let alone your spouse, other family, friends and heck.. your SELF!! Chase was and is always super involved with my dad’s medical care but hockey time is his time and provides a nice distraction/balance from the tougher things.
With that said... I wasn’t sure if grandpa would ever get to do those grandpa things like get out to watch him practice let alone go out to an arena game!
You see for a month he was in a hospital bed and lost much muscle tone etc. amongst other issues... I was a bit emotional last night getting home and remembering how when he first came home and to live with us with all his medical equipment and home health nurses and home health PT and OT, one of his first rehab goals was simply walking to our neighbor’s mailbox!! Then, the first street light, then finally a first stop sign 4 houses down all in different sessions. They required a PT belt and pulse oximeter to monitor him through these different preliminary activities.
From all that to walking up and down the huge flight of stairs outside the arena to walking up and down inside yesterday and just with pure joy enjoying the game with his very enthusiastic fan grandson... it was quite the game in more ways than one!
Thank you to the sport of 🏒🥅 for making such a difference in our lives in so many ways and to all those talented medical professionals all individually from all the technicians and nurses and doctors etc for helping to facilitate some magic for our family✨ (Continued in comments)
