Meet the oh so fashionable Kuo family — Helen Yu (@hyu915), Mike (@brojan73) and 5-year-old Marni. Helen and Mike have called San Francisco home for the last 10 years and love classic winter holiday activities like decorating their Christmas tree, drinking hot chocolate and eating roasted chestnuts. But another cherished tradition is making an annual holiday card. “We’ve been doing holiday family cards every year since Marni was born, so five years so far!” says Helen. As for 2019, “We hope for world peace and for our family and friends to be healthy and happy,” says Helen. “We dream to explore never-visited-before places around the world and meet interesting and kind people.”
Check out their holiday card photo shoot, today on our story. 🎄⭐️

Photo by Michael Yamashita @yamashitaphoto | Great Wall Home: In 2006 it was estimated 40 million people still live in cave dwellings in China, the majority of them in the Loess Plateau. Recently the Chinese government has been trying to relocate many of the cave dwellers to modern apartments in an attempt to eliminate extreme poverty in the country. Though in most cases the relocation is voluntary, many of the residents see no reason to leave their cave homes. Wang Yulian and his wife, Wang Youshen, live in a rock-solid but poorly ventilated cave house, built into the Great Wall in Laoying, Shanxi. #greatwall #Shanxi #cavehouse #loessplateau

Photo @stephen_matera// The desert surrounding Hanksville, Utah is a surreal mix of canyons, mountains and plateaus. Hanksville was first settled in the late 1800s and was a supply post for Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch Gang, who would hide out at nearby Robbers Roost Canyon (not shown here). The surrounding area is a nearly six-million acre wilderness that was the last in the lower 48 to be mapped by the USGS. Follow me @stephen_matera for more images like this from Utah and around the world. #desert #wilderness #erosion #arch

“Last Christmas I gave you my heart... Tula, our rescue, under last years Christmas tree. It was her first Christmas and she was lucky to spend it with her big new family together. I think she knew how lucky she was and is. Looking forward to the holidays and all the cuddles she will get.” writes @wildwildpack

Throw back to 1958 - couple shots from the #mrsmaisel pop up at the @carnegiedeli 🥪

Last month, I had an honor to shoot an artist singer @mrjacobbanks in Paris during an afternoon in Montmartre.
The first time that I listened his music, I was surprised by his tremendous voice.
Tonight, I'm excited to see this man in concert at Le Trianon in Paris #makeportraits
